The Eight Intelligences

Let's pretend someone called you "stupid."
They are probably basing this on your academics. Maybe you've got some C's, a few D's, and one or two F's. Academically, you may not be the sharpest blade of grass. But what if you're amazing at understanding different sounds, rhythms, and tones of music. Does that still mean you're not smart?
According to Dr. Howard Gardner, under these circumstances, you are smart. Not academically, but musically. Dr. Gardner proposed the Theory of Multiple Intelligences in 1983 to "analyze and better describe the concept of intelligence."
The theory states that a child who excels in academics may not be smarter than a child who excels in something else. For example, the kid who learns to multiply easily is not necessarily more intelligent than a kid who has stronger skills in another kind of intelligence, for example painting.
Teachers nowadays like giving their classes quizzes to see what their "intelligence" is.
I heard about the Eight Intelligences in the beginning of this school year at my old school. My teacher gave us all a test to see what our strongest "intelligence" is. There are actually Nine Intelligences, but Eight of them are official.

-Visual/Spatial

-Verbal/Linguistic

-Logical/Mathematical

-Bodily-Kinesthetic

-Musical

-Interpersonal (You interact well with others)

-Intrapersonal (This means you really know yourself well)

-Naturalist

Bonus Intelligence: Existential/Spiritual

After taking this test, I found out that my Intelligence is Verbal/Linguistic. I'll be posting an Eight Intelligence quiz pretty soon so that you guys can find out what your intelligence is as well. Comment on this post with what intelligence you predict you have. Then after you take the test, you'll be able to compare.

Have fun!
